OO10: A list of the continuing education programs (classroom and/or electronic) and the number of nurses completing each during the past 24 months. Do not include orientation or in-service education. Include programs covering each of the following topics: (SE5)

The EducationalCenter for Professional Development at Jersey CityMedicalCenter supports professional development of all staff in the practice of nursing through evidence-based continuing education, research, and mentorship. Liberty Health – Jersey CityMedicalCenter is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the New Jersey State Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the AmericanNursesCredentialingCenter’s Commission on Accreditation (Provider Number P241-5/12-15). The continuing nursing education provider unit serves the nursing community by reviewing continuing nursing education offerings for validity and compliance with the standards set forth by the NJSNA and ANCC.

The continuing nursing education provided by Jersey CityMedicalCenter is offered based upon the needs of the target population of over 600 employed registered nurses over multiple specialty areas. Content areas include, but are not limited to, evidence-based practice, nursing research, professional standards and practice performance, cultural competence, leadership, and quality improvement. The ultimate goal is to provide nurses with the knowledge necessary to increase their clinical and systems competencies, evidenced by positive patient outcomes and promotion of a safe healing environment.

The continuing nursing education provider unit at Jersey CityMedicalCenter is composed of nurse planners with backgrounds in education, leadership, and clinical specialties. Each planner has knowledge of the continuing nursing education process and adheres to all guidelines defined by the NJSNA and ANCC. The organizational structure stems from the Chief Nursing Officer to the Director of the Educational Center of Professional Development, to the Lead Nurse Planner, to the Nurse Planner Group.
